ROUTE 1066 HOUSE

Path as connection between street and water

ROUTE 1066 HUIS

On a building lot in the newly built area Route 1066 on the Sloterweg in Amsterdam, the clients wanted to realise a single family house.

Since the houses in this area are placed with short distances from the side neighbours, I chose to split the house in two volumes, so the whole gives a less massive appearance.

The volumes were divided by a path that connects the frontyard and backyard. The path starts at the street, continues from the interior to the exterior, to finish as a jetty on the water. In this way three views from the street to the water are created: two from the sides of the house and one view straight through the house.
