ROUTE 1066 HOUSE

Path as a connection between street and water

ROUTE 1066 HOUSE

The clients wanted to realize a single-family home on a self-build plot in the new-build district Route 1066 on the Amsterdam Sloterweg.

Because the houses are relatively close to each other, I chose to split the house into two volumes – making the whole look less massive.

The volumes are separated by a path connecting the front and back gardens. The path starts at the street, continues from the inside to the outside – in the same materials, to end as a jetty on the water. In this way three views are created from the street to the water: two next to the house and one through it.
